Silverstone – a P1 & P2 in First Race!

Rounds 13 & 14 of the PCCGB took us to the iconic Silverstone Circuit. It certainly was an enjoyable weekend at Silverstone on the National circuit, with a very good performance by the Rosland Gold Racing team. Both of the Rosland Gold drivers had decent races too, with a perfect P1 & P2 finish in Race One and a really good show in Race Two.

Qualifying was so close, with the whole grid being only 0.8 seconds apart in times. That just shows the quality of the Carrera Cup GB drivers and teams. Race One had Andrew Rackstraw starting P2 on the grid and George Gamble at P6. The first lap was a tad scrappy but Andrew Rackstraw managed to get to P1 by turn 4 and George Gamble worked his way through to get P2 by the second lap. Excellent driving in what was a little ‘physical’ at times. The race continued, with both the Rosland Gold cars extending their P1 and P2 places from the pack - staying well out in front for a perfect podium finish. It was a P1 & P2 finish for Rosland Gold Racing.

After the champagne and trophies were handed out on the podium, it was reverse grid ball draw time. Andrew pulled out the number 5 ball – top 5 cars will be reversed for Race Two.

So Race Two had George starting at P3 and Andrew starting at P5 on the grid. It was a good start by all, and Andrew still managed to get work his way through the pack and get to P2, where he stayed until about half way through the race he went for an overtake for P1 but locked up and flat-spotted. He lost P2 to Century team mate Angus but stayed P3 for the rest of the race. George also had a good race, but after Andrew had squeezed by there was another slight lock up error saw him lose his position and became a settled P6, where he stayed in the close battle until the end. It was P3 and P6 in Race Two. Very good driving by the guys – and a great team effort by all.

All in all a very good weekend for Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport.  The team looks forward to the final meeting of the season at Brand Hatch GP circuit on 04/05 October.
