Donington GP - A Double Podium for Rosland Gold

Rounds 11 & 12 of the The Porsche Carrera Cup returned took us to Donington GP this weekend.

Saturday's qualifying was a tight pack but both the Rosland Gold Racing drivers secured solid grid positions with Andrew Rackstraw achieving P2 and George Gamble achieving P6 for Race 1 on Sunday. Andrew had an excellent start on a slightly damp track Sunday morning, gaining the lead immediately from Will Martin. He drove an excellent race and extended his lead to come home P1 comfortably and also get fastest lap of the race. George Gamble also had a fantastic drive gaining two places after a few battles to come home P4.

After the race Andrew drew the number four ball for the reverse grid format for race 2. This inverted the top four drivers meaning George started P1 and Andrew started P4. Excellent accidental team work there!

Race Two was a dramatic affair, with George losing his pole position about halfway through the race in a 3 way battle with Sid Smith and Will Martin both muscling past George at Melbourne Loop. Century teammate Angus Whiteside had to retire resulting in a safety car towards the end of the race, bunching the field up. Andrew retained P4 throughout the race. Unfortunately George Gamble, finishing P3, received a 5 second time penalty for track limits, and due to the field being close after the safety car meant he dropped down to P8 finish. This meant Andrew finished P3 taking two podiums from the weekend.

So, Rosland Gold Racing come away from the weekend with two trophies, but slight disappointment for George with the penalty. However we take the positives into Silverstone for Rounds 13 & 14 in a fortnight's time!
