BRANDS HATCH – PODIUMS & CHAMPIONS!

Rounds 15 & 16 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB was at Brands Hatch GP circuit this last weekend.  Here is a quick round up of how this weekend resulted in GB Pro Driver champion and 2025 Team Champions happen!

It was a very stressful and nerve-wracking weekend at Brands Hatch for the final race meeting of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Season.

Saturday’s qualifying ended with George Gamble starting Pole Position for Race 1, with Andrew Rackstraw securing P4 for the grid – with Andrew in high hopes of securing the Carrera Cup GB Pro Championship title.  Andrew, starting 10 points clear in the championship, basically just had to stay close to the front, without taking any chances or getting mixed up in any trouble.  The Brands Hatch first three corners always see ‘elbows out’, then up the back it can be quite hairy too!  Best to keep out of trouble.

Race 1 started some 20 minutes late due to arco barrier repairs from a Mini Challenge race incident.  But when it did start it produced some amazing driving from both George and Andrew, with George finishing P2 after a very strong race.  Syd Smith got a better start from P2 and took the lead, but George then stayed in P2 despite so much pressure from behind.  A stressful race for Andrew as the other driver with champion hopes was in P3 and after 8 laps or so he started to back up traffic in the hope of an incident behind that could see unwanted action for Andrew.   Andrew was some 10 points clear before the race, so had to finish close to the front, and that he did, coming in at P4, just behind his championship rival.  That gave him a 7-point advantage going into Race 2 for the championship title.

After the 6-ball was drawn out for the reverse grid positions in Race 2, this saw Andrew start P3 and George start P5.  It was going to be another stressful race, for sure.  It was a similar story as Race 1, with championship rival backing up the field for half a dozen laps and then going for the front when he saw Andrew in P5.  He finished P2, or P1 in class, and Andrew finished P5.  Unfortunately, George incurred a 5 second penalty so despite coming in P3, or P2 in class, he was demoted to P8 when the penalty was applied. But Andrew kept his calm, finishing P4 in the end, which was enough to secure the title.  Andrew Rackstraw, of Rosland Gold Racing, Carrera Cup GB Pro Champion!

The hard work and amazing results from both George and Andrew secured the Carrera Cup GB Team Champions 2025 for Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport as well. Congratulations to both drivers and all the Century Motorsport Team.

An absolutely thrilling weekend from the boys (but very stressful for the rest of us). Thank you again to the team at Century Motorsport for making everything happen behind the scenes!
