The Canadian mint, the Royal Canadian Mint, founded in 1908, was founded in Ottawa and, due to its bilingualism, is approved for the minting of coins as an official means of payment in addition to the Royal Canadian Mint.
These are usually accepted in Canada and French speaking countries.
Sandra Hanington is the current president and replaced the former Master of the Mint Ian Bennet.
The mint currently produces around 15 million coins per working day and is issued in the name and on behalf of the Canadian monarch.
The best-known coin of the Royal Canadian Mint is undoubtedly the Maple Leaf, which shows the characteristic leaf of the sugar maple and is made in silver, platinum and palladium in addition to gold.
As the only company, a huge 100 kilogram Maple Leaf was also produced in gold, which had a face value of 1 million CAD and is limited to 6 pieces.
This is one of the fourth largest gold coins in the world.
The edition of the gold coins is as follows and was partly issued as a polished plate and a limited edition, as well as always as shiny uncirculated.
