The Chinese Gold Panda is a series of gold bullion coins issued by the People’s Republic of China.

The Chinese Mint introduced the Panda gold bullion coins in 1982.  The actual panda design changes each year. The coins are available in different sizes and denominations – ranging from as little as 1/20 troy oz (20 Yuan) up to 1 troy oz (500 Yuan). Larger coins are also available. Rosland primarily sells the 1oz coins.

There is also a Silver Panda series issued with the same design as the gold Panda coins. These are also available from Rosland.

The gold coin from China with the beautiful panda and the Temple of Heaven in Beijing on the reverse was minted by the China Mint with one ounce of fine gold (99.99%) between 1982 and 2015. The panda motifs changed every year except for 2001 and 2002. In the first year of issue, 1982, it had no face value, and was then issued until 2000 with a face value of 100 yuan. As of 2001, the face value was increased to 500 yuan. Since 2016, this popular gold coin has been minted with only 30 grams, because according to the law, the entire system of measurement had to be changed from the old Anglo-Saxon to the metric system. The silver coin followed in 1983, the platinum coin in 1987, and the palladium coin in 1992 with the same motifs and a precious metal content of 99.99% fine silver or 99.95% platinum and palladium. This beautiful 1 ounce gold coin China Panda 2005 from 2005 has a gold content of 99.9% fine gold, as well as a fine weight of 31.10g and is issued with a denomination of 1 ounce in a coin pocket or blister.
