Podium at Thruxton

It was a rather mixed weekend at Thruxton, with track limits offenses being the topic of debate that stood out from most.  That said, with the fastest laps being taken off a few front runners it did give a more mixed field with some battles and overtaking in the second race.  

 

As it was just the Carrera Cup GT3cup Porsches this weekend, with the Sprint Challenge GT4 Cayman cars not present, there were two quali sessions on Saturday. The first quali saw Callum Voisin get pole, and Isaac Phelps get P3. 

 

The second quali, for Race Two, saw Callum Voisin and others have their laps taken off them.  With only two hot laps just such a short quali window, this opened the field. For Race Two the grid would see Voisin in P9 and Phelps in P6.  

 

Race One

 

Callum Voisin led from the front.  Isaac Phelps managed P3 but had his last lap, the overtaking lap, taken off him, so that put him back in P4 and no podium.  But that decision was soon reversed so P3 was reinstated. It was P1 and P3 in Race One for Rosland Gold. 

 

Race Two was a different race.  Callum Voisin worked his way up the field from his P9 start, finishing a decent P4.  Isaac Phelps came in behind him in P5.  Not too bad, but frustrating with all the track limit calls and penalties handed out. 

 

Rosland Gold by Century Motorsport are leading the team championship, with Callum Voisin leading the drivers’ championship. And Isaac Phelps is leading the Talent Pool table, so the team are doing very well so far, with four of the eight meetings completed.  

 

It’s off to Donington Park GP circuit at the end of the month for Rounds 9 & 10.
