Another Win for Gus Burton in the Porsche at Thruxton
Another enjoyable weekend meeting for Gus Burton in the Porsche, with P1 and P4 finishes at Thruxton. Nice weather helped the weekend, and the circuit was as fast as it can be. Being the fastest circuit in Europe, it is an exciting track.
Gus was P2 on the grid for the first race, but got past Will Martin after a few laps, and stayed there until the end of the 20-laps. Gus’s second win of the season. It was then time to draw a ball from the hat for the reverse grid in Race 2. Gus drew out the 4-ball – so Gus was to start P4 in the second race.
The second race was delayed a little due to a horrific crash in the morning’s Ginetta GT4 SuperCup race, where two drivers had to go to hospital. Both drivers are stable and joking with the hospital staff, so we are all please and relieved.
The second race started and the top 5 basically just stayed as they were for the whole race. 20-laps only saw a few attempts to overtake but that isn’t as easy at it sounds, with Thruxton being a hard circuit for overtaking if no real driver errors.
But another successful weekend for Rosland Gold Racing, and the next meeting at Silverstone (national circuit) in a couple of weeks can’t come quick enough!
