Gold Proof Sovereign 3 Coin Set Commemorating the Juxon Medal and 400th anniversary since Charles I ascended the throne.
The Juxon Medal was in fact a coin with a value of 5 Unites. The Juxon Medal acquired its name as it is believed King Charles I handed the coin to the then Bishop of London, William Juxon, on the scaffold, prior to his execution. There are several possible reasons for him handing over this highly valuable coin: to acknowledge the loyalty of this man who had served the King faithfully during his reign, or possibly to try and ensure a swift and clean blow of the axe. He was executed in Whitehall London on 30 January 1649. The Juxon Medal now currently resides in the British Museum. 2025 also marks the 400th anniversary of the Accession of King Charles I. The principal design element of the Juxon medal is a large, crowned shield of the Royal Arms in heraldic form and the Latin motto: Florent Concordia Regna (Kingdoms flourish through harmony).
This set of 3 is made up of a Sovereign, Half Sovereign, and Quarter Sovereign (8g, 4g, 2g), and is presented in a wooden gloss box with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity.
