Given the widespread adoration for Mother Teresa, it is fitting that her canonisation be commemorated properly on a prestigious £100 coin in fine gold, featuring a superbly sculpted depiction of the Blessed Mother on the relief. Mother Teresa was loved not only for her kindness and humility but also for her perseverance and dedication in the charitable works that she pursued throughout her life; founding the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, India, in 1950 – an organisation which still runs strong today and provides medical aid, care and support for the most disadvantaged people in society.
