Seated in King Edward’s chair, Elizabeth took the Coronation Oath as administered by the Archbishop of Canterbury. In the oath, the Queen swore to govern each of her countries according to their respective laws and customs. Wearing the Imperial State Crown and holding the Sceptre with the Cross and the Orb, Elizabeth left Westminster Abbey and was transported back to Buckingham Palace where she appeared on the balcony of the Centre Room before a gathered crowd as a flypast went overhead. In the Coronation Ceremony, one of the key moments was when The Queen made her Coronation Oath: ‘I Solemnly Promise So to Do’ The script represents handwritten ink on paper as per The Queen signing the declaration. This background symbolises St. Edward's Sapphire from the Crown Jewels, to represent the Sapphire Jubilee. Taken from the Order of Service for the Coronation: Archbishop – “Will you solemnly promise and swear to govern the Peoples of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon, and of your Possessions and the other Territories to any of them belonging or pertaining, according to their respective laws and customs?
