Issued in 2022 to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II - the only British monarch to achieve this milestone.
The Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II is being celebrated within the Commonwealth of Nations to mark the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne on 6th February 1952. This is a once in a lifetime event, being the first time a British monarch has celebrated 70 years on the throne.
This monumental occasion is being celebrated in many ways around the world; in the United Kingdom, the commonwealth, and other nations of the world throughout 2022 - bringing communities together to celebrate this historic occasion. The celebrations will culminate with a four-day bank holiday weekend in UK from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June, which will include public events such as The Queen’s Birthday Parade and Service of Thanksgiving, with an abundance of community activities and national moments of reflection of HM Queen’s 70 years of dedicated service to the nation.
To commemorate this unprecedented milestone, this limited edition Sovereign set has been struck in 22k gold with a series of only 250 sets of 3 available. The design has Her Majesty’s effigy on the front whilst the reverse design, by renowned numismatic designer Michael Guilfoyle, depicts Her Majesty’s effigies from the time of the 1953 coronation and the latest effigy (the 5th version of her reign), which was created in 2016 by Joel Iskowitz. Michael Guilfoyle’s coin designs have also commemorated many Royal events in the past.
