Churchill: 150th Anniversary Gold Proof Sovereign

Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Winston Churchill in 1874. The design features  a portrait of Winston Churchill wearing his iconic Homburg hat, a recognisable image associated with his public appearances. The inscription "CHURHILL" appears alongside the dates 1874-1965, marking his birth and death years.

Sir Winston Churchill (1874–1965) was a British statesman, orator, and author who served as Prime Minister twice (1940–1945, 1951–1955). He is best remembered for his leadership during the Second World War and for leading Britain to victory against Nazi Germany, famously inspiring the nation with his speeches. A Conservative leader and Nobel laureate, he was pivotal in shaping 20th-century history. Sir Winston Churchill Stands as one of the most consequential statesmen of the twentieth century and an enduring symbol of courage, leadership and democratic resolve. 

Born in 1874, Sir Winston Churchill devoted more than six decades to public service as a soldier, parliamentarian, writer and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.  The coin design features a portrait of Winston Churchill wearing his iconic Homburg hat, with his birth and death years around the edge.  The reverse features the official coinage portrait of Charles III.
