Two Double Podiums at Croft!

It was a near-perfect weekend for the Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport duo, as Carrera Cup GB headed to Croft Circuit for Rounds 11 & 12.

Saturday’s qualifying got the weekend off to a strong start, with Callum Voisin taking a well-earned pole position. Isaac Phelps also impressed, initially qualifying in P2 before having the lap time removed for track limits, putting him P4 on the grid. That meant pole and Row 2 for the Rosland Gold drivers heading into Sunday’s opening race.

Sunday arrived – and so did the rain. But the difficult conditions did little to trouble the Rosland Gold duo.

Race One saw Callum Voisin complete the hat-trick with a clean sweep of the weekend so far. After securing pole in qualifying, Voisin delivered a faultless drive from start to finish, adding the fastest lap to his P1 finish and remaining untroubled by the wet conditions.

Isaac Phelps, meanwhile, fought his way through from P4. A strong drive saw him work his way past the two cars ahead to take P2 around the halfway point, where he remained until the chequered flag.

Following the podium presentations and photographs, Voisin pulled the ‘4-ball’ from the bag, meaning the top four finishers would take reverse-grid positions for Race Two – the final race of the day, scheduled for just before 6pm.

By mid-afternoon, the rain had stopped and the track soon began to dry, leaving very different conditions by the time the cars assembled at 5:30pm.

Voisin made another sharp start in Race Two, launching past his teammate to move into P3 by Turn One, with Phelps slotting in just behind him in P4.

The Rosland Gold drivers remained in P3 and P4 for much of the early running, with Jack Sherwood putting up an excellent defence in P2 and keeping Voisin behind for a significant portion of the race. Voisin eventually found his way through to claim P2.

Phelps then applied the pressure to Sherwood and, after another hard-fought battle, made his move to take P3 – putting the two Rosland Gold cars together once again in P2 and P3.

Race leader Sid Smith had driven well to establish a gap of around four seconds, and with valuable championship points on offer, there was little benefit in compromising the tyres or risking a track-limits penalty in an attempt to close him down.

Smith went on to take a deserved victory, while Voisin and Phelps crossed the line in P2 and P3, securing a second double podium of the day for Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport.

Next up is the penultimate meeting of the season in three weeks’ time, as the championship heads to the iconic Silverstone Circuit for Rounds 13 & 14. After a hugely positive weekend at Croft, the team will be hoping to carry that momentum and confidence into Silverstone.
