Tough Weekend at New Track Croft

A very tough weekend to process - but that’s racing.

Rounds 7 & 8 of the Porsche Carrera Cup took us to Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire. The circuit is 2.127 mi long and is based on the lands of an airfield. It was a new circuit for the 2024 race season, so was exciting to see what would happen!

We started strong in qualifying, thankful for the sun for giving us a dry session. George Gamble had some awesome laps and secured P3 going into Sunday. Will Burns was also looking good, securing P11. Both positions in class.

Things were not so good come Race 1 on Sunday. On lap 5, Gamble was involved in an incident where he was unfortunately pushed into the barriers and out of the race. Once the safety car was gone, Burns was back on it, driving a great race working his way up to finish P9 (in class).

The absolutely amazing team at Century Motorsport got Gamble’s car pieced back together and ready for Race 2. Due to the DNF he was starting P16 at the back of the Pros and Burns was starting P11. It was a tricky race, with not many overtaking opportunities apparent. Gamble was unfortunately handed a 5 second penalty for track limits as a result of his pursuit. Will Burns raced a steady race finishing P10 (P8 in class). After his penalty Gamble finished P18 (P10 in class).

Very hard weekend for the drivers and the team. We are hoping for a lot more success in the next meet at Knockhill in a few weeks time. Well done for the weekend boys regardless - always a pleasure! And massive thanks to Century as always for getting the cars perfectly race ready every time.
