Mixed Results for James Kellett on His First Outing
In wet conditions the first race of the season was going well, with James sitting in 4th place after 6 laps, only to be struck on the rear left corner and spun off the track and then hit again by the other car.
Into the gravel and with bent and broken steering rods it was a DNF on James’ first outing in the Porsche. That’s racing, unfortunately, and to rub salt in further, the other car finished in 21st place, meaning James had to start in 22nd place, behind the last Pro driver in Race 2.
Race 2 started in rain and it got worse. The first half a dozen laps were in atrocious conditions, but James slowly worked his way up from his starting grid position of 22nd to finish a very impressive P7 after the 24 laps race was complete. A truly excellent drive by James under the circumstances and in such poor racing conditions. Despite such poor weather there were only a handful of spins and no safety cars required. Very well managed by Race Control, we can add.
It’s now a wait until Brands Hatch (Indy circuit) on the 6/7 May weekend for Rounds 3 & 4, where we can hope for some better luck.
