The EC8 (Eastern Caribbean 8) program will consist of four coins in 2018, issued for each of the eight Caribbean island members of the ECCB - Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and Saint - coined. The currency of the EC8 2018 coin program is the Eastern Caribbean dollar.

Throughout the colonial days of the Caribbean, there was competition for the sale of rum and for the safety that armed ships brought with them. The governors of the Caribbean islands backed the sale of rum to the Royal Navy in hopes the move would help keep the pirates of the Caribbean at bay. Pirates often made extra money to tax rum in colonies in North America and the West Indies. The Rum Runner is the first edition in the new EC8 program. It shows a ship leaving the port of Antigua & Barbuda fully loaded with rum, in the foreground you can see rum barrels that the residents and pirates used to trade in the early 17th century.

This is an absolutely rare collector's item as a polished plate (without colour), as the regular coins only exist as unmistakable gloss and these limited pieces were polished up by the mint on behalf of Rosland.
