In honour of the famous Vienna Philharmonic, the coin of this music association has been one of the best-selling gold coins in the world since 1989.

This valuable gold coin from the Austrian mint shows the eight supporting instruments horn, bassoon, harp, two violins, cello and two violas of the Vienna orchestra on the obverse.

The back shows the organ case, which was built in 1872 and which has become famous in Germany as a result of the traditional New Year's concert, which is broadcast annually on television.

From 1989 to 2001 around 4.4 million coins with the denomination of 1 ounce and the face value of the national currency at the time of 2,000 schillings were sold.

As a result, around 5.5 million coins with a face value of 100 euros and a weight of 1 ounce were minted between 2002 and 2015.

In 2002, due to the currency conversion, all available gold coins from 2001 were melted down, which makes them an absolute rarity.
