The wonderfully realised Five Portraits commemorative gold £100 coin is issued to celebrate the 90th birthday of Great Britain’s longest reigning monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We have issued a coin in celebration of all the stages of her reign up to this joyous milestone. The reverse design features a relief of four previous likenesses of Her Majesty.
The obverse features a new design of Her Majesty’s likeness now, bringing the total to five, and clearly displaying the grace and longevity of the British monarchy in an allegorical homage. This new effigy has been created by renowned American sculptor Joel Iskovitz and was commissioned in celebration of Her Majesty’s record-breaking long rule. No other British monarch has lived for as long, with Her Majesty out- stretching her predecessors Victoria and George III by almost 9 years.
A limited striking of just 699 coins has been issued by the Commonwealth Mint as a fitting commemoration of our beloved Queen achieving 90 years of grace and fortitude.
